Introduction: A Journey that Began Over a Decade Ago
What began more than a decade ago as a personal and leisurely practice has gradually evolved into a deeper calling. Initially, I practiced yoga mainly for its physical benefits—seeking flexibility, strength, and calm, without yet realizing the depth and wisdom it held. In May 2025, I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training with Yogavatar® iSpirit Asia — a Yoga Alliance registered school, covering Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, and Restorative Zen. This transformative journey opened up a world of profound teachings that extended far beyond just physical postures.

Exploring the Roots of Yoga
During the training, I explored the roots of yoga, diving into its ancient philosophy and spiritual practices. I learned how mantras, the sacred sounds or words, can shift our energy and cultivate focus, while mudras (hand gestures) serve as powerful tools for channeling and directing energy within. I also gained insight into bandhas (energy locks), and how these practices enhance stability, control, and energetic flow. Through the practice of shatkarma (the six cleansing techniques), I learned how to purify both body and mind to create space for healing and clarity.

Building a Foundation in Anatomy and Physiology
I developed a solid foundation in anatomy and physiology, gaining a deeper understanding of how the body functions and how to move safely and effectively. This foundational knowledge laid the groundwork for my deeper exploration of yoga as a holistic practice—one that integrates body, breath, mind, and spirit.
Â
The Power of Breath and Meditation
While asana (physical postures) is just one aspect of yoga, it was through pranayama (breath control) and meditation that I discovered the true depth and transformative power of the practice. Breath became my anchor, helping me calm the mind and create a deeper connection to myself. Meditation allowed me to cultivate mindfulness, stillness, and presence in my daily life.

What I’ve Learned: Possibilities Beyond Limits
From the training, I also learned and felt deeply what we initially thought impossible can turn to possible with practice and faith, and the embrace of openness in the learning of yoga. It was a powerful reminder that growth and transformation come through dedication, patience, and trust in the process. I’ve learned to remain open, not only to the physical challenges of the practice, but to the deeper lessons that yoga offers in every moment.

Honouring the Ancient Wisdom of Yoga
I deeply honour the ancient wisdom of yoga and its transformative power. These teachings are not meant to stay only on the mat, but are meant to be lived and integrated into modern life to inspire practicality, growth, and transformation. Yoga has taught me how to reconnect to the peace and calm that are always within us, creating a deeper sense of balance and well-being. It’s a practice that encourages openness—to new possibilities, to vulnerability, and to living more fully in the present moment.

Gratitude for My Teachers at Yogavatar® iSpirit Asia
I am deeply grateful to my trainers at YogAvatar for their openness, guidance, and the generous sharing of knowledge. Their teachings have not only shaped my yoga practice but have also inspired me to share this light with others. The Beginning of a New Journey
Completing my YTT200 is just the beginning. While I am excited to begin teaching, I remain devoted to being a lifelong student. Teaching, to me, is a path of continuous learning—growing through each class, each experience, and each person I meet. What I’ve learned so far may just be a drop in the vast ocean of yoga’s wisdom, and I remain humbled by how much more there is to explore. Yoga is not about perfection; it’s about transformation through the journey. And I am here to walk this path, to share, to learn, and to hold space for others on their own journey of healing, balance, and self-discovery.

Inspiring Others to Find Strength, Balance and Purpose
As I embark on this new chapter of teaching and learning, my purpose is to guide others in finding strength, balance, and purpose through yoga. I hope to inspire a deeper connection with the practice, encouraging mindful movement that goes beyond the physical postures, and empowering you to embrace your unique journey of growth and self-discovery.
Namaste🙏
With love, Charlly
